The Method ("we," "us," or "our") is a mobile application operated by Unicity International. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use The Method app.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use the app:
- Account information: Email address, first name, last name, and preferred language — provided during registration.
- Content you create: Power Goals, Vision Statements, and daily practice notes — stored to provide the app's core functionality.
- Usage data: App interactions, session frequency, streak data, and feature usage — collected via Mixpanel analytics to improve the app experience.
- Device information: Device type, operating system, and timezone — used for scheduling notifications and displaying content correctly.
Third-Party AI Services
The Method uses third-party AI services to provide certain features. Your data is processed as follows:
- OpenAI (GPT-4.1 Vision): When you photograph handwritten notes for text recognition, the image is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI does not use this data for training. Images are not stored after processing.
- ElevenLabs (Scribe v2): When you use voice dictation, audio is streamed to ElevenLabs' API for real-time transcription. Audio is not stored after processing.
These services process your data only to provide the requested functionality and do not retain your content after processing is complete.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the app's core functionality (goals, vision, daily practice)
- To authenticate your account via one-time password (OTP) email verification
- To send local and push notifications (reminders, achievements, streak alerts)
- To display community leaderboard rankings (opt-in only)
- To analyze app usage patterns and improve the experience
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted on AWS) with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage (iOS Keychain).
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Supabase: Database hosting and authentication
- OpenAI: Handwriting recognition (when you use the scan feature)
- ElevenLabs: Voice transcription (when you use the dictation feature)
- Mixpanel: Anonymous usage analytics
- Expo: Push notification delivery
Your Rights
You may:
- Access your personal data by viewing your profile and content within the app
- Update your name and language preferences at any time
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us
- Opt out of leaderboard visibility in the app's account settings
- Disable any notification category in the app's notification settings
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, all personal data and content is permanently removed within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
The Method is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app or via email.
